Woolton Mainstay Rangers was formerly 2 teams at Under 7 Level, Woolton Rangers and Woolton Mainstay. Both teams were independent and the teams merged when they reached Under 11.

The nucleus of the current squad is based on the original boys from the Under 7 squads. A lot of the boys have known each other for many years and have grown up and become friends together.

The team have recently (June 2010) just arrived back from a tour of Madrid. After 6 months of planning Rav and Kenny took the boys and five parents on an amazing trip to Madrid. The boys enjoyed a tour of the Bernabau home of the mighty Real Madrid, a day out at a theme park and in between played two games of football against a couple of Madrid's finest teams. The first game against FUENLABRADA (home of the the team that found Fernando Torres) the boys came up trumps in a 2-0 win and played some fantastic football. After a days break they then went on to play  F.C ALCORCON. When the team arrived at one of the best facilities in the whole of Madrid they were greeted by some of the most hospitable people you could ever meet. Unknowing that the opposition they were about to play had just recently been crowned champions of Madrid in the under 13's age group beating teams from Real Madrid and Athletico. The heat at 7pm was 104 degrees and the lads knew it was going to be hard but like English lions they battled hard straight from the kick off and took a 2-0 lead within 15mins. Two wonder goals from Michael Barrow and Connor Bell meant the Spaniards had to make  changes with their 23 man squad while the Rangers only had 14 players. The boys created another two chances but did not take them and with 5 minutes to go as the lads began to tire the Spaniards managed to get a consolation goal after a great save from Tom (The Cat ) Riley. The Spaniards were gracious in defeat and could not believe how well Rangers had played. All in all it was a great trip and the lads behaved exceptionally well while flying the flag for both Woolton FC and the city of Liverpool.
