oliver king foundation
The Foundation has recently been given Registered Charity status (Number 1144485) and the official launch will be on Thursday 9 February. There are various things happening as part of the launch and Kingy is asking if anyone can provide 2p's, that we may be saving in bottles, for use in a display of the official logo. A raffle will be taking place and prizes will include a Blackberry Curve phone, JLS tickets, Morgan watch, signed LFC & EFC shirts, meals at Lefteris & ChaBa ChaBa - tickets can be purchased at £1 per strip. 400 balloons will be released at King David School and can be purchased in advance at circa £3 each and a personal message can be added to each balloon. In addition to recent publicity in the Echo and on Granada Reports the Foundation will be promoted on Radio City/City Talk throughout the day on Thursday 19 January. Please provide any support that you can for the launch of the Foundation which will support the provision of defibrillators at schools and junior football locations as well as organising screening for young people. rangers u15's doubles ticket winner
Woolton Rangers recently ran a doubles ticket to raise funds for their tour abroad this season. The team travelled to Malta again last season and enjoyed a fantastic trip and have been invited back again to participate in a 7 team tournament. The squad has 22 players so the team is attempting to raise nearly £5,000 to pay for each of the players.
The winning doubles ticket was sold by Steve Thomas who's boys, Liam & Michael, both play for Rav's Saturday team. The picture below is the owner of the winning ticket who took away the superb prize of £250.
Rav intends to run another ticket and night out so keep an eye on the website for details.

crb guidance
Various guidelines in respect of CRB applications have been added to the website and can be accessed under the title Woolton FC & FA CRB Guidelines on the About Us page. In the event of any query please contact Phill Bruce, the club's Welfare Officer. Phill's full contact details are included within the Woolton FC CRB Guidance document.
community club status
Woolton FC have recently been awarded Charter Standard Community Club status by the FA. The FA Community Club scheme builds upon the foundations of the Charter Standard scheme in placing clubs at the heart of their community. It is the pinnacle of the club development pathway and is awarded to clubs that have a high quality, multi-team set up with excellent social, training and playing opportunities for all. As such Community Club status is one of the truest measures of success for the FA Football Development strategy and is considered by the FA to be the ultimate goal for clubs at grassroots level.
The club is delighted to have received FA Charter Standard Community Club status and the award will assist in bringing the development plan for the club, which includes better all round facilities, to fruition.
The club needs the support of all teams, by way of increased participation, to help make the vision for the future become a reality. Greater support and participation will lead to better facilities.
standards of behaviour
There have been a number of red and yellow cards received by Woolton FC players already this season and lack of appropriate discipline is a growing problem within the club. Poor standards of behaviour not only reflects badly on the individual and their team but also on Woolton FC and is not acceptable. Will managers, coaches, parents and players all ensure that everyone connected with their team is familiar with the FA Codes of Conduct and act in accordance with them. The Codes can be accessed on the About Us page of the website and can be printed off easily for use. Woolton FC values it's good reputation within the local leagues and community and the club does not wish to see that reputation damaged by a very small minority acting inappropriately.
managers & coaches kit
Will all managers and coaches please ensure that they wear their official Woolton FC kit supplied by the club when taking training sessions and matches. It is important that you can be identified by players, parents and officials and is also a requirement of FA Charter Standard status.
academy training sessions (ages 6-9)
The academy training sessions have recommenced on Saturday mornings at 9am with effect from 21 August. The sessions are aimed at boys who are aged 6 to 9 (school years 2,3 & 4 from September 2011) who are currently not signed to a team. The sessions will be taken by the coaches of the teams named on the rota which is to be advised.
tidying up
Despite previous requests that everyone help with tidying up after training and matches it is regrettable that the majority walk away and leave the clearing up to a very small number of people. It is the responsibility of all teams to ensure that the pitches and surrounding area are cleared of rubbish before they leave especially the teams taking part in the latest scheduled matches. The Committee will draw up a weekly rota, based on teams involved in the later matches, and the nominated team will be responsible for liaising with Lance and clearing away rubbish and equipment.
Each team will be asked to do this on an infrequent basis but it may be that due to the vagaries of the fixtures, one team may be asked to help out for a second time before another team has done it for a first time, but we will do our best to spread the workload as thinly as possible. As the majority of M&HJFL fixtures are currently notified only one week ahead the full rota will be updated on the website as soon as this policy changes. Please ensure that your team helps out on the date that you are asked to provide assistance. The rota does not absolve other teams from being responsible for tidying up after their own match.
Team finances
The Committee strongly recommends that all teams adopt the following as best practice in respect of managing their finances:
- Open a bank or building society account in the team's name and operate all financial activities through it
- Operate a simple/basic cash book system to show the financial position
- The cash book should be available for inspection by parents, committee members etc
- Where possible the cash book and account should be operated by a parent/s other than the manager/coach
These recommendations are made purely to avoid any suggestion or accusation of financial irregularities being directed at any individual.
CLUB CONSTITUTION & fa cODES OF CONDUCT
The Constitution and Codes can now be accessed on the website. Please click on the appropriate link on the About Us page to be directed to them. Everyone involved with Woolton Football Club is expected to be familiar with the Constitution and the Codes and act in accordance with them.
website
Please forward any items for the News Page or information you want adding to or amending on your team's section of the website by email to ianwolfei@wooltondiamonds.org.uk Any requests will be actioned as quickly as possible.
TIDYING UP AFTER TRAINING/MATCH
Can we ALL make sure that when we leave a pitch after training or a match that it is clear of litter and that any equipment is returned to the storage location. DON'T LEAVE IT TO SOMEONE ELSE!!!
REGISTRATION NUMBER
Please note our FA registration number for season 2011/2012 is JAA00191
PARKING at camp hill & simpsons
Do not park on double yellow lines - you are likely to be given a ticket.
If you park on the Simpson Ground side please try to keep the whole of your car on the road. If you avoid parking on the the grass it will help to prevent damage to the tree roots and not tempt the council to protect them by using an increased number of double yellow lines. It will also reduce the traffic to single file and slow it down making the area safer for our children.
Child Protection
Please contact Phill Bruce (Club Welfare Officer) for any enquiries about Child Protection. Coaches who have a Safeguarding Children certificate must renew it every 3 years. The FA will write to you when your certificate expires and the club will contact coaches who need to renew their certificates. Woolton FC will cover the cost of recertification.
unwanted football kit - PLEASE donate it to kitaid
KitAid is a charity that sends unwanted football kit to children and adults across Africa, Asia and Eastern Europe. Woolton FC supported KitAid in 2008
and we are doing so again this year. KitAid are grateful for all donations in good condition –
shirts, shorts, socks, shinpads, boots,
goalie gloves, balls, single items or full team kits, children’s or adult’s sizes. If you have anything you would like to donate, please give it to Lance, Ailsa or Andy at the hut. To find out more about KitAid search for “KitAid” on YouTube or Google
or ask Lance, Ailsa or Andy.
Liam
Costello - A Woolton Warrior
One of our boys Liam Costello, a member of the all conquering Woolton
Warriors under 12's team, passed away after a tragic accident in Snowdonia
in October 2007. Liam had been a club member since he was very young.
He was a talented footballer and a charming young man.
We have decided to rename our tournament the Liam Costello
Woolton Tournament as a permanent memorial to him. We hope
that you will support it.
